I’m having some trouble figuring out this plane ticket thing. If I try to change the date of my ticket, then my new ticket has to be with the same airline, and I have to pay a change fee plus the difference in fare- $2250. That, needless to say, is not an option. The only other thing I can see to do is to cancel the first ticket and buy a new one, but the cheapest one I can find is $1600.
So it’s either that or come back at the end of June like I originally planned (I have no words for how that possibility makes me feel).
Do you lose your money if you cancel your current ticket?
Yep. Here are my options:
1. Apply my current ticket to the new one and pay $2250.
2. Lose my current ticket completely and buy a new one for $1600.
3. Swim home.
Have you looked at flights on sidestep.com? They have pretty good prices. Also look into big airports like Chicago O’Hare. It would make it a bit longer of a trip, but could save you a lot of money. And if you needed to spend a night in Chicago I bet my sister might be willing to help you out! (And Southwest flies out of Chicago….).
Thanks for the tip, Jenny! I’ve looked at pretty much every site known to man- but I hadn’t looked at sidestep yet! I think my best bet is those kind of sites that will set up the cheapest trip possible, using multiple airlines. Sidestep, Orbitz, and Dohop are the best I’ve seen so far.
AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! hooray!! this is so incredibly exiciting. your mom told me some of this story from their side… i couldn’t contain my excitement so i made a pact with myself not to have any contact with you until he really popped the question for fear that my excitement would tip you off to something you shouldn’t have been tipped off to. apparently, that wouldn’t have been an issue since you seem pretty clueless. nevertheless… i am SOOOO excited that I now get to extend a hearty congratulations to you. This is absolutely wonderful. You are going to be such an incredible wife. i suppose you will be moving to virginia soon so… maybe someday we can all meet up in the southeast.
hope you can get back soon! i will pray for you.
Thanks, Nicole! It IS incredibly exciting! I have a hard time sitting still these days- there’s so much to look forward to!
Thanks also for your prayers. I love knowing that I have people praying for me.
i like the swim home option…it’s free and good excercise ;)
LOL Well, I think I’ve found (been given!) a solution that doesn’t involve swimming or selling off my furniture. We’ll see if it works out!
Personally, I would just find a local Ninja and have him teleport me. It would be so much faster and cheaper. The downside: You might end up dead, Ninjas get bored easily and tend to just go around killing things.
Huh. You know, I don’t think Alexander would like it very much if I died on my way home.
Did you find a solution?
Yep! I’m leaving France on the 3rd of June. Should be back in Oklahoma by the 5th, I think.
(I guess I should update this blog, huh? I’m so terrible about that these days…)
